GM's Cruise Robotaxi Service Faces Potential Fine for Alleged Accident Cover-Up

California regulators are considering imposing a fine of around $1.5 million on General Motors' Cruise robotaxi service for allegedly covering up an accident involving one of its driverless cars. The incident occurred on October 2 in San Francisco, when a pedestrian was hit by a human-driven vehicle and then dragged by a Cruise robotaxi. The California Public Utilities Commission has ordered Cruise to appear at a hearing in February to determine if the company misled regulators about the incident. This comes after the suspension of Cruise's license by the California Department of Motor Vehicles, which has dealt a significant blow to the company and its parent, GM.
