Mercedes is adding OpenAI's conversational AI agent, ChatGPT, to its MBUX infotainment system in the US, allowing drivers to augment their car's conversation skills. However, it is unclear why drivers would need to use ChatGPT while driving, and privacy concerns have been raised as Mercedes retains and analyses voice command data collected in the Mercedes-Benz Intelligent Cloud. The beta test will help Mercedes developers gain insights into specific requests and improve the voice assistant.
