Antitrust Trial Prompts Pause on Warner-Paramount Merger

Paramount Global and Skydance, joined by a coalition of state attorneys general, agreed to delay the $111 billion Warner Bros. Discovery merger until after an antitrust trial, extending close to five days after the trial or June 1, 2027 (whichever comes first). A 28-day injunction blocked closing; states argued the deal would reduce competition in cable and theatrical markets. Paramount called the agreement a significant win, and the injunction hearing was canceled as the parties set a path toward a merits trial.
