Lucas Museum Debuts a Highway of Stories Through Vehicular Art

After years of delays, the Lucas Museum of Narrative Art in Los Angeles opens on Sept. 22, displaying more than 40,000 works from George Lucas and Mellody Hobson, though only about 1,200 are on view across 30+ galleries. The collection’s standout is vehicular art—from Star Wars props and full-scale podracers to scale models and other transportation-focused pieces—showcased alongside paintings, comics, and sci‑fi concept art, with rotating exhibitions and a visitor-friendly layout that includes EV‑charging parking.
