Ink to Open Venice: Boyle’s Murdoch Drama Lights Up the Lido

Danny Boyle’s Rupert Murdoch biopic Ink will open the Venice Film Festival, starring Jack O’Connell as The Sun editor Larry Lamb with Guy Pearce as Rupert Murdoch and Claire Foy as Jules Davies. Directed by Boyle from James Graham’s screenplay, Ink is produced by Boyle, Tessa Ross and Michael Ellenberg, financed by Studiocanal, and will screen Sept. 2 in Sala Grande on the Lido as Venice runs Sept. 2–12; the film chronicles Murdoch’s acquisition of The Sun and its ascent as Britain’s top tabloid.
