Netflix & Sony Plot Global Theatrical Launch for Greta Gerwig’s Narnia Origin Story

Netflix outlined its plan for Greta Gerwig’s Narnia: The Magician’s Nephew, with Sony Pictures Entertainment handling international distribution and Netflix handling domestic release. It will be Netflix’s first wide theatrical release and first 45-day exclusive theatrical window, rolling out across major chains; the film is the first-ever adaptation of The Magician’s Nephew (1955) and features a starry cast, though previously it was slated for an IMAX-only launch in 2026 with a Netflix debut that year before being moved to 2027.
