Paramount Taps Trachtenberg for Family-Friendly Freddy the 13th Animated Feature

Paramount Animation is developing Freddy the 13th, an animated, PG-rated horror-comedy based on the graphic novel about Freddy Vanwinkle, a hapless 13th-born son. Dan Trachtenberg (Predator: Badlands) will develop and produce with Ben Rosenblatt, with Yehudi Mercado co-directing and Trachtenberg under a three-year first-look deal with Paramount. The story follows a family vacation that becomes a nightmare after Uncle Freddy accidentally kills the Boogeyman and gains his powers, promising a wholesome, family-friendly film. The project was unveiled at Annecy, and Paramount Animation’s slate includes other titles like The Naughty List and PAW Patrol: The Dino Movie, under new president Jennifer Dodge.
