The National Pest Management Association is warning celebrities who attended Paris Fashion Week to be cautious of bringing bed bugs back to the United States. Dr. Jim Fredericks, an entomologist, advises thorough inspections of luggage and bedding for signs of infestation, regardless of the hotel's star rating. Storing luggage outside of bedrooms during visits and inspecting suitcases before flying home can also help prevent the critters from hitching a ride. Additionally, washing clothes and drying them on high heat is recommended, and a dry clean upon returning to the U.S. wouldn't hurt either. While bed bugs don't spread disease, they can be a major nuisance if they infest a home.
