TL;DR

Joni Mitchell's return to music was celebrated in a three-hour spectacle at the Gorge Amphitheater in Washington. The concert, dubbed Joni Jam, featured Mitchell's disciples, including Wendy & Lisa, Lucius, and Blake Mills, among others. Mitchell's supple, still-searching voice was supported by a mosaic of well-wrought harmonies and graceful arrangements. The concert included rock'n'roll covers, guest appearances, and Mitchell's renditions of her own classics. Mitchell's new command of her deeper voice, eight years after a brain aneurysm, is the latest iteration of her life-long adaptation.
