Blomkamp Goes AI-Only With Nightborne, Eyes a Full-Length Feature

Neill Blomkamp released Nightborne, a 13-minute sci‑fi horror short created entirely with AI using the Seedance 2.0 model, with Blomkamp directing frame-by-frame via text prompts. The film used the faces and voices of 32 licensed real people, and concept art was crafted by human artists. Blomkamp says he plans to shoot a full-length feature in the same format and has founded Barley Studios to carry this work forward, even as AI in film faces skepticism over data sourcing, potential job losses, and copyright concerns.
