Neuzil has been appointed as the director of the Fogarty International Center (FIC) and NIH associate director for international research, making her the first woman to hold the permanent FIC directorship. With extensive experience in global health and vaccinology, she is set to lead FIC in supporting global health research, building partnerships, and training scientists. Dr. Neuzil's impressive research portfolio includes over 330 scientific publications and collaborative programs on diseases such as influenza, typhoid, and COVID-19. She is expected to join NIH in early May and will oversee FIC's annual budget of approximately $95 million.
