"Olive Oil-Derived Drug Shows Promise in Treating Aggressive Brain Cancer"

Doctors are hopeful that a drug derived from olive oil, called 2-OHOA, may be effective in treating the aggressive and incurable brain cancer, glioblastoma. Early trial results showed promise, with about a quarter of participants responding positively to the medication. A Phase 3 trial is now underway, with the drug altering the walls of tumor cells to inhibit cancer growth or spread. Patients experienced side effects such as nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea, but some reported improved quality of life while taking the drug.
