Combining COVID, Flu, and RSV Shots: Is it Safe?

The CDC endorses taking the flu shot and COVID booster together, and there is some evidence that the flu shot and RSV vaccine can be given together. However, caution is advised with the RSV vaccine due to limited experience. Seniors can schedule two separate appointments for COVID and flu, and RSV shots. If necessary, all three vaccines can be given at once, but it is recommended to get the RSV vaccine at least 2 weeks apart from the others. The RSV vaccine provides longer-term protection than flu or COVID vaccines. Side effects to watch for include Guillain-Barré syndrome and atrial fibrillation. The decision to get the RSV vaccine should be based on individual risk factors. The CDC has yet to provide recommendations for fall COVID boosters.
