A study published in the journal 'eBioMedicine' suggests that receiving a COVID-19 booster shot in the same arm as the initial vaccine may result in a stronger immune response. The research, conducted on 303 individuals who received the mRNA vaccine and a booster shot, found that two weeks after the booster, those who had both shots in the same arm had a significantly higher number of "killer T cells." The location of the injection is believed to impact the immunological response, as immune cells in local lymph nodes are re-stimulated in the same place. However, further studies are needed to determine if this results in better or longer-lasting protection.
