Rabid bat near UW Seattle campus prompts rabies precautions

Public Health – Seattle & King County says a bat found on a UW Seattle sidewalk tested positive for rabies; anyone who touched the bat or its saliva should seek immediate medical evaluation, as rabies is treatable if caught early. The bat was euthanized, no exposures are confirmed yet, and guidance includes contacting animal control and testing bats at no charge when appropriate.
