Anti-inflammatory Drugs Prevent COVID-19 Deaths, Study Shows

A clinical trial studying the use of crizanlizumab, a P-selectin-blocking agent, in hospitalized patients with COVID-19 found that it did not affect mortality or the number of days free of respiratory or cardiovascular organ-support measures. The trial was terminated early due to futility. The results suggest that inhibition of P-selectin is unlikely to benefit patients with moderate-to-severe COVID-19.
