Sanjoy Mitter, a renowned expert in the theoretical foundations of systems, communication, and control, has passed away at the age of 89. As a professor at MIT, Mitter made significant contributions to engineering applications, particularly in the control of interconnected power systems and pattern recognition. Known for his interdisciplinary approach, he co-directed the Center for Intelligent Control Systems and oversaw foundational advances in information and decision science.
