"Brain's Unexpected Role in Immune System Regulation Uncovered"

Researchers at Columbia University’s Zuckerman Institute have discovered that the brain can regulate the immune system by detecting inflammation and modulating the immune response. This study, conducted in mice, focused on the caudal nucleus of the solitary tract (cNST) and revealed that the brain can either ramp up or suppress inflammation. The findings could lead to new therapies for diseases where the immune system is overactive or dysregulated, although further studies are needed to confirm these mechanisms in humans.
