CWD Spreads in Wisconsin and Michigan: New Cases Confirmed

Two wild deer in Polk and Trempealeau Counties in western Wisconsin have tested positive for Chronic Wasting Disease (CWD), a fatal nervous system disease. As a result, Polk County will implement a three-year baiting and feeding ban starting December 1, while Barron County will renew their existing ban. Trempealeau and Jackson counties will also renew their baiting and feeding bans. State law requires these bans in counties where CWD is detected, as well as in adjoining counties within 10 miles of a CWD detection. An informational meeting on CWD will be held in Balsam Lake on November 9.
