Elizabeth Holmes Begins Prison Sentence in Texas

Elizabeth Holmes, the disgraced CEO of Theranos, is set to begin her 11-year prison sentence for overseeing a blood-testing hoax that defrauded investors and patients. Holmes will be incarcerated in a women's prison camp in Bryan, Texas, leaving behind two young children. She was convicted on four felony counts of fraud and conspiracy in January 2022. Holmes and her former partner, Ramesh Balwani, promised to revolutionize healthcare with a technology that could quickly scan for diseases with a few drops of blood taken with a finger prick. However, serious flaws in Theranos' technology were exposed, leading to the company's collapse and criminal charges against both Holmes and Balwani.
