"Sunnylands Statement: United States' Commitment to Climate Cooperation"

The United States and China have reaffirmed their commitment to addressing the climate crisis and working together with other countries. They will focus on implementing previous joint statements and declarations, including the Paris Agreement, and will establish a Working Group on Enhancing Climate Action in the 2020s. The two countries will accelerate efforts in areas such as energy transition, methane reduction, circular economy, subnational cooperation, and forest conservation. They also plan to cooperate on reducing greenhouse gas emissions and air pollutants, and will hold a Methane and Non-CO2 Greenhouse Gases Summit at COP 28. Both countries emphasize the importance of international cooperation and aim to adopt a consensus Global Stocktake decision that reflects progress, equity, and the best available science.
