"CIA Programmer Sentenced to 40 Years for WikiLeaks Espionage"

Former CIA software engineer Joshua Schulte was sentenced to 40 years in prison for leaking classified information to WikiLeaks, including the so-called Vault 7 leak, and for possessing child sexual abuse images and videos. The judge described the leaks as causing massive damage to national security and costing the CIA hundreds of millions of dollars. Schulte, who had helped create the hacking tools at the CIA, showed no remorse and continued his crimes from behind bars. He complained about harsh conditions in jail and rejected a plea deal, claiming the government sought vengeance. U.S. Attorney Damian Williams said Schulte committed some of the most brazen crimes of espionage in American history and attempted to cause more harm by waging an "information war" from prison.
