Two Colorado State Troopers Wounded; Suspect Killed in Woodland Park Shooting

Two Colorado State Patrol troopers were shot during a morning traffic stop near Woodland Park; both were hospitalized and expected to recover. A second trooper returned fire, wounding the suspect, who later died at a hospital after a large multi-agency manhunt prompted a shelter-in-place in the Westwood Lakes area. Law enforcement tracked the suspect to a location around 9:24 a.m., and the shelter-in-place was lifted shortly after the suspect was found in custody. The incident is being investigated by the Fourth Judicial District Attorney’s Office, with Gov. Polis expressing support for the officers and their families.
