Day Care Owner's Deceptive Tactics Led to Tragic Fentanyl Exposure

The owner of a Bronx day care center, Grei Mendez De Ventura, where a toddler died after inhaling fentanyl, is accused of duping her ex-husband into a sham marriage to gain entry into the United States. According to the ex-husband's family, Mendez was not interested in the marriage and only wanted to come to America. After a tumultuous marriage and divorce, the family cut ties with Mendez until they learned about the fentanyl incident at the day care. Mendez and another individual were charged with murder, assault, and child endangerment. Authorities discovered drugs and drug paraphernalia at the day care, which was also allegedly a drug front.
