Former MPD Officer to Change Plea in Federal Case for Tyre Nichols' Death

Former Memphis police officer Desmond Mills Jr., one of the five officers charged in connection with the death of Tyre Nichols, plans to change his plea to federal offenses. Mills previously pleaded not guilty to federal civil rights, conspiracy, and obstruction charges. The federal indictment alleges that Mills and the other officers deprived Nichols of his constitutional rights during a violent confrontation following a traffic stop. All five officers also face state felony charges, including second-degree murder, aggravated assault, and aggravated kidnapping.
