Impersonator and Romance Scammer Sentenced to Prison for Millions in Fraud

Haider Ali, who posed as a federal law enforcement agent, has been sentenced to nearly six years in prison after pleading guilty to conspiracy, bank fraud, and unlawful possession of a large-capacity ammunition-feeding device. Ali and his co-conspirator, Arian Taherzadeh, were able to deceive Secret Service agents and scam a luxury apartment building in Washington, D.C. Ali's claims of connections to Pakistani intelligence raised concerns, but investigators ultimately determined that their actions were motivated by a desire for financial gain.
