Inmate found dead in jail cell infested with bed bugs.

LaShawn Thompson, a mentally ill man arrested for misdemeanor simple battery in Atlanta, was found dead in his jail cell covered in bed bugs. The coroner's report listed his cause of death as undetermined. Thompson's family is calling for a criminal investigation and the closure and replacement of the jail. A lawsuit in the case is pending. The Fulton County Sheriff's Office has launched a full investigation and approved an additional expenditure of $500,000 to address the infestation of bed bugs, lice, and other vermin within the jail.
