Nigerian Men Extradited to US for Running Global 'Sextortion' Ring Linked to Teen's Suicide

Two Nigerian men accused of running a global sextortion ring that targeted over 100 victims and led to the suicide of a 17-year-old boy have been extradited to the United States to face federal charges. Samuel Ogoshi, 22, and Samson Ogoshi, 20, were arrested following a joint investigation by the FBI and Nigeria's Economic and Financial Crimes Commission. They are now in federal custody in Michigan. The men were indicted on charges including conspiracy to sexually exploit minors and distribute child pornography. Samuel Ogoshi also faces a charge of sexual exploitation resulting in death. The extradition of a third man is pending. Sextortion is a scheme where perpetrators solicit explicit photos and threaten to release them unless victims pay. The FBI has seen an exponential increase in sextortion reports involving minors and has identified more than a dozen suicides linked to these scams.
