Tragedy Near Pawleys Island: Autistic Girl Saylor Hayes Found Dead, Parents Arrested

A massive search for 5-year-old autistic Saylor Hayes ended with her body found in waters near Hagley Landing by Pawleys Island, SC. Her parents, John Herb Hayes III and Geordyn Nichole Hayes, were arrested in Tennessee on fugitive-from-justice charges and face South Carolina counts alleging they endangered or abandoned her. Prosecutors allege the monitoring device used to track Saylor was removed before the family left Virginia and that searches were directed away from the water; the cause of death has not been disclosed.
