An Uber passenger shot and killed her driver in El Paso, Texas, after seeing road signs indicating they were approaching Mexico. The passenger, a 48-year-old Kentucky woman, believed she was being kidnapped and did not attempt to call 911 before the shooting. The victim, Daniel J. Piedra Garcia, was taken to a hospital but died after being removed from life support. The woman was initially charged with aggravated assault causing serious bodily injury, but the charge was changed to murder after Piedra's death.
