Backlash to Racial Progress in Education: Affirmative Action and Student Loan Cases.

The U.S. Supreme Court is considering two cases that could dismantle affirmative action and President Joe Biden's student loan cancellation plan, both of which disproportionately help Black students. The rulings could have political consequences among young voters of color who took Biden at his word when he promised to cancel debt. The cases reflect a larger backlash to racial progress in higher education, as Black borrowers tend to take on disproportionately more debt to afford college. The court is expected to rule in each of the cases by the end of June.
