Florida School District Implements Transphobic Policies, Restricting Pronouns and Bathrooms for Trans Teachers and Students

Orange County Public Schools, the fourth-largest school district in Florida, has issued guidance to comply with recently passed state laws that restrict teaching about sex and human sexuality and require the use of restrooms based on biological sex at birth. The guidance prohibits transgender employees from using preferred pronouns and mandates the use of group restrooms that align with their birth sex. Violations can result in sanctions, including the revocation of teaching certificates. Transgender students must use single-stall restrooms or coaches' offices for changing. The district could face fines of up to $10,000 for non-compliance.
