Mass. judge lets Trump mail-voting challenge move forward, calls order unconstitutional

A federal judge in Massachusetts refused to dismiss a League of Women Voters–led lawsuit challenging President Trump’s executive order on mail voting, ruling the order unconstitutional and allowing the constitutional and Voting Rights Act claims to proceed, while dismissing one Administrative Procedure Act claim. The judge noted the EO could cause irreparable disenfranchisement and set an Aug. 7 hearing, with briefing on an injunction ongoing. The order would require USPS to identify voters by mail-ballot barcode and bar ballots for voters not listed, a policy the court has already blocked in other cases.
