Canada wildfires cause smoky skies and air quality alerts in US states.

Canada is struggling to contain a series of large wildfires in Alberta, with more than 93 fires still active and close to 3,000 square miles of land burned. Smoke from the fires is affecting air quality as far east as Michigan and as far south as New Mexico in the United States. The Alberta government has declared 23 states of emergency due to extreme wildfires, which have been caused by severe heat, lack of rainfall, and worsening wind conditions.
