"Canadian Wildfires: Impact on Air Quality Across North America and Europe"

Satellite images from NASA show that smoke from the wildfires in Canada has traveled across the U.S. and even reached Europe. Parts of the Midwest, including Chicago, Milwaukee, and Detroit, experienced very unhealthy levels of smoke, while areas to the East and South had moderate air quality. The smoke is being carried by the jet stream, and cities from Nashville to Charlotte, Myrtle Beach, Atlanta, and more could see smoke in the sky. The smoke is expected to continue spreading, with Washington D.C. likely to be the most affected on the East Coast. The Midwest is also projected to receive another batch of smoke. This phenomenon of smoke traveling long distances has been observed before, such as in 2017 when smoke from West Coast wildfires reached the East Coast.
