Minnesota and Wisconsin face worsening drought conditions.

Severe drought now affects 19% of Minnesota, with central areas including St. Cloud, Milaca, and Mora being hit the hardest. The past 31 days have been the driest on record since 1871, and parts of central Minnesota, the northern half of the Twin Cities metro area, and the North Shore have seen less than one-tenth of normal rainfall. While some rain is possible late Friday into the weekend, it will not be significant for most of the state. Next week is expected to be hot and dry again, with many places near 90 in southern and western Minnesota.
