Northern Michigan Wildfire 90% Contained Despite Unprecedented Conditions.

Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer has warned residents not to set fires outside due to the dry conditions that have led to a fire southeast of Grayling that has already consumed 2,400 acres. The state Department of Natural Resources has warned that Michigan remains at an extreme risk for wildfires, with the vast majority of the state listed at "extreme" or "very high" risk of a fire. The current extreme level of fire danger is unprecedented for this time of year, particularly the amount of dry material available to fuel a fire. The Grayling fire is more than 90% contained as of Monday afternoon, but dozens of structures have been damaged or destroyed.
