"Trillions of Hyper-Sexual Zombie Cicadas Set to Emerge Across the US"
TL;DR
Trillions of cicadas from two separate broods, Brood XIX and Brood XIII, are set to emerge simultaneously across a dozen states in the U.S., creating a once-in-a-lifetime event. The insects will be everywhere, with their loud mating calls and mass numbers making for a unique natural spectacle. The emergence, occurring every 13 and 17 years, is a survival mechanism for the species, and the public is encouraged to participate in citizen science efforts to help researchers study this historic event.
