The Newsom administration has filed a lawsuit against Elk Grove, accusing the city of violating state laws by denying a proposed housing project. The city of Elk Grove said the project was denied because it did not meet objective zoning standards, but state officials argue the denial was "based on discretionary exercise and not an 'objective standard.'" The lawsuit hopes to require Elk Grove to approve the project.
