Biden's National Security Adviser Visits Israel Amidst Netanyahu Rift and Ongoing Israel-Hamas Conflict

President Biden's national security adviser, Jake Sullivan, is heading to Israel to meet with top Israeli officials amid a public rift between Biden and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu over the mounting civilian casualties in Gaza. Sullivan will discuss efforts to make Israeli operations against Hamas more precise and reduce harm to civilians, as well as the release of eight American hostages held by Hamas. Prior to his visit to Israel, Sullivan also traveled to Saudi Arabia to discuss diplomatic efforts to maintain stability in the region and build on work towards normalizing relations between Saudi Arabia and Israel.
