US Ambassador Confronts Russia Over Detained Journalist at UN

US ambassador to the UN, Linda Thomas-Greenfield, confronted Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov at a Security Council meeting, condemning Russia's war with Ukraine and calling for the release of two Americans wrongfully detained by Moscow. Lavrov presided over the meeting despite being subject to US sanctions related to Russia's invasion of Ukraine. The US accuses Russia of violating international law and using people as pawns. Elizabeth Whelan, sister of one of the detained Americans, called on Russia to free her brother and criticized the country for escalating wrongful detentions.
