The Deadly Consequences of Foreign Involvement in Ukraine.

Retired US Army Special Forces soldier Nicholas Maimer, who was killed in an artillery barrage in Ukraine, had said in a February interview that he felt "compelled to come help" the country. Maimer was training volunteers and helping Ukrainian officers develop training programs of their own. He hoped the US would continue its support, despite calls by some politicians in Washington to cut back American aid to Ukraine. Maimer served in the US Army from 1996 to 1998 and then joined the Idaho Army National Guard until 2018.
