US citizen detained in Russia under investigation by State Department.

The State Department is investigating the case of American citizen Michael Travis Leake, who was detained in Russia on drug charges and could face up to 20 years in prison. The department is working to determine whether it is a case of wrongful detention and has tried to reach out to Leake's family. Leake appeared to reject the foundation of his arrest in a video that aired on Russian state TV. The Biden administration has yet to say whether it is evaluating Leake’s case as one of wrongful detention. The State Department has formally declared two other Americans held in Russia as “wrongfully detained.”
