Maryland sheriffs sue to block new immigration enforcement law

Seventeen Maryland sheriffs filed a federal lawsuit to block the Community Trust Act, arguing the law would obstruct cooperation with federal immigration authorities by ending administrative warrants and forcing the release of detainees; the suit, brought with the Federation for American Immigration Reform, targets Maryland and its attorney general, while Gov. Wes Moore says the state can support law enforcement and constitutional rights and supporters say the act complements the ban on 287(g) agreements.
