"Chicago Family Settles $10M Lawsuit Over Teen's Freezer Death"

The family of Kenneka Jenkins, a 19-year-old woman who died in a Chicago-area hotel's walk-in freezer in 2017, has settled a lawsuit against the hotel for $10 million. The settlement includes approximately $3.7 million for Jenkins' mother and a combined $2.7 million for two other family members. Jenkins' death was ruled accidental, caused by hypothermia and intoxication. The settlement was reached after three separate mediations, and none of the defendants admitted to wrongdoing.
