Hopkinton Beach Assault: 70-Year-Old Charged with Attempted Murder Freed on Bail

A 70-year-old Hopkinton man, Steven Dana, was freed on $7,500 bail after being charged with attempted murder, strangulation/suffocation and assault on a disabled person following a confrontation at Sandy Beach on Lake Maspenock; video shows him overpowering 21-year-old Matt Duffy and submerging him underwater, with Duffy saying the dispute stemmed from residency rules and left him with injuries including broken limbs. Dana is due back in Framingham District Court on July 13 for a probable cause hearing and must stay away from the beach and the victim.
