US Military Implements Mental Health Support Law After Delay

The Pentagon has finally implemented the Brandon Act, a law requiring them to provide mental health services for troops seeking help, after a delay of more than a year. The law is named after Brandon Caserta, a 21-year-old sailor who took his own life in June 2018. The military services have 45 days to implement the Brandon Act for active-duty troops. The law requires a mental health evaluation and allows service members to ask for help confidentially to reduce the stigma around mental health.
