Alabama State Lawmaker Resigns and Pleads Guilty in Voter Fraud Case

Alabama state lawmaker, Republican Rep. David Cole, has agreed to plead guilty to a felony voter fraud charge for using a fraudulent address to run for office in a district where he did not live. Cole, a doctor and Army veteran, signed a lease for a small space in a home in order to meet residency requirements, but never lived there. He will resign from office on the day he enters his guilty plea and will serve 60 days in jail followed by unsupervised probation. The arrest came after accusations were made that Cole did not live in the district he was elected to represent.
