Alabama's Political Landscape: Challenges and Predictions.

The US Supreme Court's decision that Alabama's current congressional district map violated the Voting Rights Act and must be redrawn to create at least two Democratic-leaning districts should be good news for Democrats. However, the Alabama Democratic Party, which did little to deserve the victory, is in disarray and may blow the opportunity to win competitive elections. The party, controlled by Joe Reed, has abolished caucuses for LGBTQ, youth, and disabled people, and without these groups, the party won't have a place in Congress. Republicans could make the old district more competitive than Democrats are accustomed to with the Singleton map.
