Rep. Lauren Boebert, a member of the ultraconservative House Freedom Caucus, introduced articles of impeachment against President Joe Biden over his handling of the southern border. The White House dismissed Boebert's decision as a stunt that distracts from working for her constituents. Republicans have frequently targeted the Biden administration over the southern border, but until now they have mostly focused their ire on Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas. Boebert introduced the articles of impeachment against Biden just hours after his son, Hunter Biden, struck a deal with the Justice Department to plead guilty to two misdemeanor tax charges and participate in a pretrial program to resolve a firearm offense.
